After being taken out of action by a crippling (man-)flu in December, J.Williams, after being in rehabilitation until after the new year was back on the frontline in the middle east for another tour of duty with the blue regiment.
He knew it would be a hard fight as he was out of practice and was now thrust into the face of a 14 man team deathmatch.
Alert and prepared for the battle ahead, he loaded his weapons of choice the HKMP-5SD, Glock and the stun grenade.
After a HALO drop into the eastern district of Maelstrom with a 7 man assault team, all of who were new to one another and some with no true enemy engagement skills. He proceeded to take control of the group issuing orders to follow and engage.
All went well until less experience crew began to drop.....
Sniper fire started in the northern alleyway, J.Williams issued the order to fall back but the younger soldiers crippled under the pressure and tried to engage the enemy. Their smaller weapons were no match for the specialised 7.62mm rounds fired by the snipers SVD drugenov rifle.
Any hope for the Blue unit began to fade as the rounds tore through the soldiers. The red unit, pushing around to the south of the alleyway took away any cover from the blues and J-Williams was forced to retreat from the rear of a small van and behind a heavy metal dustbin.
"At that moment, when everything kicked off, i was forced to take any available cover i could. I watched another member of my squad take a hit as he followed my leave, I jumped out and dropped one of the targets flanking our position. I didnt have any sort of real firepower and my back up had moved back to a safe point. I threw a stun grenade over the bin towards the south alleyway, heard the bang and just f*%$ing legged it" i watched one of the targets try and get to cover but i guess the grenade must have done the job because he was proper flapping, firing at the walls, rolling about and all sorts. I tapped a couple of rounds in his direction and he went down like a ton of bricks. The sniper tried to get me but i was legging it and he missed me, hitting the van i was just behind making it explode. i thought to myself, 'lucky me'
I dived through an open window, lay on the ground and aimed my weapon down the corridor. I saw a friendly unit pass the doorway and jumped up to my feet.
I ran for it and felt this sharp pain in the base of my neck, i flashed out and fell to the floor. I saw that same team mate fire over my shoulder behind me and i blacked out. I woke up to her punching me, i stood and she said 'i've got your back'. I thanked her and she just left me to it. i don't know what happened to her and i never had time to thank her as soon as she was there she was gone sort of thing"
J-Williams composed himself and moved from the building to the south end of Maelstrom into a very tight alleyway, and into the heaviest contact in the area.
"As i moved into the area, I came into contact straight away. Some of the guys were pinned down by grenades and gunfire. I sat with the unit and assessed the situation, sometimes it takes that one person to sit back and just say ' hang on a minute'.
I thought out my plan for a few seconds while the other guys held them back. I decided to make an assault on the main corridoor for a shock and surprise element. I grabbed a stunner and went in fast and hard."
J.Williams then led his small squad down the alleyway, pushing back the enemy and eventually leading them to a well deserved win.
This was a landmark victory for J.Williams who had been out of action for some time. He was later informed in a post battle debrief that he had defeated a much stronger enemy than first thought.
Some were found to be part of the much feared FCB and also loyal members to The Watch.
This would undoubtedly gain a much deserved respect for the FH23 special forces and send ripples through their armies.
"I just did what i've trained long and hard for and on that day, i was lucky. I had to take guys who i've never met before and lead them on my first solo mission against a strong enemy to what they deserved......
